Canasty version 13 (Canasta) |
 |
|
Need red threes? If you are not willing or able to do two accounts at the same time (which
is much smarter, instead of letting a computer bot eat half of your red3's), your best bet is simply to type your screen name into my Dummy
feature while playing against a bot. You will keep drawing 2 cards from the stockpile (trying to snag red3's), discarding your highest-ranked
card and quickly lose each round until the computer whips your ass and gives your rank progress. However, you can speed up the process by
doing two accounts together at the same time and table. Create a private, 2-player game and set these game options: Cards drawn from the deck (2),
Minimum canastas required to meld out (1), Wild cards allowed in opening meld (yes), Show tips during gameplay (no), Players cannot ever pick up
discard pile (no). Now bring two different club accounts to the table using two different web browsers (Chrome, Firefox or Internet Explorer) and
set these auto options: Grab discard pile (Never), Nasty draw (50), Speed (80), No Dummy. This will keep drawing two cards only from the stockpile and
maximizes your chance for discovering red threes. Once all four red3's have been discovered, both humans will immediately try to win the round
by melding out. You have officially maximized rank progress for two accounts at the same time, rather than giving a computer bot half of the goods. |

Need quick wins? Set these auto options: Grab discard pile (Never), Nasty draw (0), Speed (80).
Set these game options: Cards drawn from the deck (2), Minimum canastas required to meld out (1), Wild cards allowed in opening
meld (yes), Show tips during gameplay (no), Players cannot ever pick up discard pile (yes). For some reason, enabling the
Players cannot ever pick up discard pile option really makes the computer bot struggle... so take advantage of it! You
can play against a computer bot if you want, but it's even faster to use another human account (with Doubly and Dummy) instead.
Open two different browsers (IE, FF or Chrome), join the same 2-player table, change the auto's Grab discard pile option to
Frequently, Nasty draw to 18, disable/uncheck your game's Players cannot ever pick up discard pile option, and type
your secondary (losing) account's screen name into Canasty's Dummy feature. Your Dummy account will only draw from the stock pile,
discarding its highest face cards. You should be finishing entire matches in no time at all and occasionally create some natural "No
Wilds" canastas as well. |

Need Natural Canastas? The best way to scoop up a bunch of Naturals is by playing against another
human account (with Doubly and Dummy). Open two different browsers (IE, FF or Chrome), join the same 2-player table, change the auto's
Grab discard pile option to Frequently, Nasty draw to 0, Hold wilds (checked) and type your secondary (losing) account's
screen name into Canasty's Dummy feature. The Dummy will only draw from the stock pile and will keep discarding its highest cards:
aces, kings, queens, etc. Your good account will eventually be fed tons of natural canastas because it keeps grabbing all of those high cards
from the discard pile and melding them. And since you checkmarked Hold wilds, all of your canastas will be pure and natural. You should
witness around 5 per round, with your games ending very quickly because of such high points. |
| 13 (8.3.2011) Added a Hold wilds option to improve the number of natural canastas you
receive when using Doubly-Dummy. Read the tip above for proper settings. |
| 12 (6.21.2011) I adjusted the Nasty draw option to be a little more red3 rank helpful
for people playing two human accounts at the same table. All you have to do for maximum fast rank, is set Grab discard pile to
Never and set Nasty draw all the way to exactly 50. Dummy is not required for this, so leave it alone. Canasty will flip back and
forth between both browsers and keep drawing, drawing and drawing 2 cards until all four red3's have finally appeared. Immediately, both
human players will try to end the round by melding out everything in their hand. Who cares who wins? But eventually, the match will end
and both accounts have just split up ALL of the red3's, rather than a computer bot eating half of them. So there you have it. Ranking up
two accounts at the same time, at the same table, snagging all of the red3's instead of half, is twice as fast as doing it yourself against
a bot (twice). |
| 11 (4.12.2011) I removed the 2 canastas required option since it was broken,
confusing and pointless. As far as I am aware, there are no badges that require two canastas to meld out. Therefore, simply
play normally and make sure your game's Minimum canastas required to meld out option is set to only "1". |
| 10 (10.20.2010) They changed the window size yesterday morning. Easy fix. |
| 9 (12.4.2008) Fixed the new popup window stalls
(StartGame, PlayAgain, YesNo) recently spawned in Sun's latest java update. |
| 8 (12.12.2007) Whoops, messed up the Grab discard pile option.
Sorry about that, it saves your setting now. |
| 7 (12.12.2007) Moved the code into my
latest shell. Should auto-update itself in the future now as well. |
| 6 (8.8.2007) Fixed some Vista buttons
and re-sharpened the intel a tad bit. Seems last version's
No Discard button fix stopped melding completely. Hopefully it's okay
now. |
| 5 (3.24.2007) After numerous requests
for my famous Dummy feature, I decided to include it today. Input your screen
name and Dummy will only draw from the stock pile, discarding its highest face
cards. You should be finishing entire matches in no time at all, as this quickly
builds a fine discard pile filled with natural "No Wilds" canastas and keeps
your own hand fed the entire time. And hopefully, the two older stalls that some
of you witnessed should also be fixed. That being the
No Discard button problem, and the wild cards waiting to be melded issue
(usually because of Game Speed being too high). |
| 4 (3.17.2006) Not only is my insomnia
your gain, but when I do sleep, I have fantastic ideas. Canasty is now in the
new shell, which makes it capable of double browsing. I have added a "Nasty
draw" option. Use this with doubly and you will be able to snag red threes for
both screen names. Simply slide it all the way to the right and watch Canasty
smoke through the entire deck! Also, you can increase your chance for natural
canastas by forcing the auto to wait around 15 turns before melding (also use
with doubly). And you might want to make sure your "Grab discard pile" option is
on "Frequently" for an even better chance at that huge discard pile. If you
experience any stalling, turn the speed down slightly until you discover what
works best for you. The 75+ speeds are only for machines that can handle their
java that fast. |
| 3 (12.19.2005) Hopefully, the illegal
melding problems have been resolved in this update. I also attempted fixing the
last card issue when you are supposed to click the "No discard" button. I still
have yet to see this Canasty 3 stall out for any reason (hours now). |
| 2 (12.13.2005) "Grab discard pile" is
the first new option. Select how often you would like the auto to take advantage
of the growing stack, or choose Never to ignore it. There are only a few
scenarios that even qualify in having the discard pile available, but it's nice
to have control. If you have changed your online game's option to require two
canastas to meld out, checkmark the other option in Canasty's window "2 canastas
required". MSVM java is choppy and not recommended, so use Sun if possible. If
anyone experiences a stall, let me know (and send a .bmp picture if possible),
but I am fairly certain that all problems from version 1 no longer exist. I am
aware that if any Sun users have changed various settings in Windows, it could
make Canasty stop at the Start Game/Play Again buttons. Either put your font
size back to normal or change back to a standard Windows theme, otherwise you
will have to use VM instead of Sun. Canasty knows how to play this extremely
complicated card game, making valuable judgements based on its options and
intelligence. The red threes come naturally while you maximize points, wins and
badges. Finally, here's a canasta auto that is actually worth the money. |
| 1 (12.10.2005) This is my quick release
for the public, with hopes of receiving some feedback like we always do. This
way, I can go back in and fix everything while I still have Canasty fresh in my
head. I hope to have a fixed version 2 update available within a day or two.
Feel free to email me with any problem reports, but not any intelligence
suggestions. I will be adding more intel while I fix anything all of us have
discovered. So expect version 2 very soon. I am aware that it stalls quite a bit
and assure you these quirks will be taken care of. This is a neat way to allow
everyone to view what Canasty will be like and help make it as perfect as
possible. This is a very fun auto to watch, isn't it? |
